Artist Interview
What's the latest piece of art that you have put out into the world?
A piece about a dinner with friends and family. I miss having people over, laughing, drinking wine and cooking dinner for them. So I painted a colourful and cheerful scene about it, I suppose it is a form of therapy during the confinement.
What drives you to keep creating?
Passion! I need to create every day, so it is not only about the drive, but it is also a necessity to my well-being.
Being a freelance illustrator comes with wearing a lot of different caps, so it can be hard to carve out some time out of my day to create some personal work. You have to be your own manager, marketing and account team, so that can get on the way sometimes.
Is there another artist's work that you would recommend, and why?
So many out there! I would say my favourite artist at the moment is Ana Leovy. I love her colourful style and the playfulness of the scenes she paints. Because I can't keep it to only one artist, I will add two more https://www.instagram.com/holalou/ and https://www.instagram.com/amber_vittoria/.
Do you have any advice for creators that are just starting out?
Keep showing up, don't wait to have the perfect piece to show in order to share your work and think of yourself as a business that needs management and discipline. Be consistent in posting your creations online, and keep on showing your unique perspective to the world.
Where can we find your work?
You can follow my work on Instagram, where I am sharing most of my work and some project updates. I am also currently working on a new website and e-shop that will be up soon!
